Components that are checked during an MOT

The different categories of vehicles that are checked during the MOT Edgware, London from our partner workshops.

Vehicle structure and Body

Our experts will inspect if the vehicle body has any sharp edges that can cause injuries or excessive corrosion to the associated components like the steering column, braking system and the bottom of the vehicle.

Wheels and Tyres

Our testers will thoroughly inspect the condition of the vehicle tyres and wheels. They will check if the wheel or tyre has any cuts, bulges or other severe damages. Further, they will also ensure that the tyres have optimal tread depths.

Brakes

During an MOT Check London, the technicians check the brake pedal, discs, pads, callipers, lines, pipes, brake cables, master cylinder and brake servo to ensure that the car stops efficiently.

Classification of MOT Issues

There are three main classifications of vehicle issues under the MOT, namely.

MOT Certification

VT20: You get a VT20 certificate if your car successfully passes the MOT London with minor or no issues. In case minor faults are detected, a so-called advisory note will be issued, so you can get the issues resolved accordingly.
VT30: Major or dangerous issues affecting your overall driving safety will lead your vehicle to fail the test and you will get a VT30 certificate. You are then no longer allowed to drive the vehicle. All issues must be resolved, and a partial re-test must be carried out before you can drive the vehicle again.
